Welcome to Nico...I think you can get new 08's for around that price now a days. It may not have all the options that you may want, but at least you have a sense of mind. As far as corporate demo's, not exactly what that means. Put it this way, I think lot of us don't want to purchase previous rental cars.

You would be saving some coin, but I'd be sure to get it looked at thoroughly by a good mechanic, the break in period is the most important time, and you'll want to be sure that it was babied I'd say go for it, but follow your instincts.

Welcome to Nico!

Corporate demo= don't even think about it.

Just kidding.

I would try to aim for a new one. Look around you might get for the same price or less. That's just me.

A demo is a new car that has never been sold (registered) and has light mileage on it, anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand miles usually due to customer test drives, loaner car for customer repairs, or sometimes the sales mgr or salesmen get to use the car until it's sold. Now because the car is "New" ALL the factory rebates incentives ect are in force.

Yahoo answers: It was a test drive car and used for short periods by people who didn't abuse it like a regular owner might. They are usually offered for a good discount and it's like buying new but not paying the full price.

Jaxxx,

I, too, was recently faced with the same dilemma. I was looking all over the US for a G37 with prem/nav pkgs. I found several "new" cars that were demos. and used cars b/t 10-15k miles for around $32,900 -- $33,000. Some dealers were charging up to $38,000 because their demo "only" had 2,800 miles on it.

I was very interested, but then I got to thinking, as some of the other members have indicated on this post. If you had a fast, performance vehicle like a G37 to use, that was not yours, how would you drive it? As is the issue with all pre-owned cars, who knows what happened before you came around. Also, does a $7k discount justify the purchase and offset that fear? I almost bought a G37 with EVERY option imaginable from Infiniti of Scottsdale 2 weeks ago. This car was black on stone and looked sharp. It's still on their website. I was able to get it shipped to me in Tulsa for $32,900. The car had 14,000 miles. Not too bad, right? I asked for the service records to be faxed to me. I saw that the transmission had been replaced at 7k miles, along with a host of other problems. Had I not seen the service records, I would have NEVER known of these problems and be driving the car today, with an uncertain future ahead.

I've always been skeptical of purchasing performance cars that are pre-owned. For example, how many Mustangs have been driven like Accords or Camrys? If you were buying one of the cars, then I would tell you to go for it. But, given the fact that it is a G37 under the guise of being a "demo", I would be careful.

On 12/31, I was able to buy a NEW (140 mi. on the clock) '08 G37 6MT with prem/nav, etc.... blk/stone for $37,500 plus free window tinting. In the end, I based my decision that saving $4,000 was not worth it, give the possibly of an uncertain history on a pre-owned model.

In the end, you have to be comfortable with your decision, but, by all means, don't think you have to buy this car ASAP because it's going to be gone and there are no other's out car. There are lots of these vehicles around the country and remember, dealers are not immune from this economy. It's not like these cars are Tickle Me Elmos that are flying off the shelves!

Hope this helps!

~Vinny

On the other hand, $4k could have easily bought the extended warranty and paid for any minor repairs or MODS that you may have wanted.

I have seen a couple of demo cars and usually they are low mileage cars that are used for just that...demos. They are test driven and shown off. I like to think of them as stock show cars.

If I had the option of buying a demo, I would ask for the maintenance records, then pay an Infiniti dealer to do an inspection. The $200-$300 would be a great insurance policy in my mind.

Speaking of loaners, my buddy sent this to me today. What if this is the demo car that you are looking into. What a coincidence...

Makes me cringe for sure.

vinnie's comments are dead on. Remember that its a buyer's market, big time. Don't listen to dealers that whine about how they're losing money. Even if they are, so what. Not your problem. They'll trot out the old one about how they can't pay the salesman's commission at xxxx price. So what, not your problem. Make sure you tell the dealer you are a serious buyer and want to buy that day, and let them know you have other aggressive quotes and you'll walk if they don't want to deal. They'll tell you the car can't be sold at that price. Nonsense, they can sell it for anything they want to, including at a real loss if they want/need to.

Just as rough ballpark, you should be able to get 15-20% off MSRP on 2008 G37 6MTs. Probably at least that good on G37 auto's because there so many of them still on lots. Even better on G35 2008 sedans---those are everywhere. 2009 anything is a whole 'nother ballgame.

Be patient, remember you are in the driver's seat...they're desperate no matter what they say. Have no mercy on the dealer. Do you think they would have mercy on you if the cars were scarce?
