Today I found this: http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-Nissan-Rogue-Hoo ... _500wt_922

The vehicle in this picture is user paulvanharte's Rogue (plastic-hood-cover-deflector-t340282.ht ... ulvanharte) look at the picture uploaded by Philip...

They basically copy-paste Paul's Rogue's picture (At first I thought Paul was selling his hood deflector, but it is obvious that it is an online store" and the item location is Quebec, where as Paul is living in Alberta)

My question is: can everyone use the picture of our Rogues in forum pages for their commercial use?

Maybe web site owners should put a watermark on each picture?

Yes, anyone can use pictures from this forum for any use because it's easy to save a picture to your computer. As for the legality, someone else needs to chime in.

I am sure it happens alot online.

Well I can speak on this personally because this has happened to me. As you can see, somebody took my picture of my nerf bar from Nico Forum to advertise their product. I found this out awhile back. It's the indigo blue rogue.

Here is the picture they took it from in this forum.

Even the other Rogues was taken by this company. I only speak for myself, but at first I was kinda miffed about it but then I decided it was no big deal. As the old saying goes, so many worse things going in this world. It's not like I condone it but it does not really hurt ME personally. I hoped to inspire other Rogue owners, but I didn't think it would be a company trying to sell their product.

When you post pictures online just expect that the world would see it or use it. Can we say weiner as in Rep. Weiner? :bowrofl:

Personally, I posted many pictures in here that were not mine. Even this forum has a IMG link to pictures.

I speak only for myself, but I don't let it bother me. :inoutgay:

Well it does suck that their lazy butt can't take a picture of their product or maybe they crappy photographers. :bs:

You are right. but at least they should indicate the source. Or to avoid this type of violations, I think all the pictures in this forum should have a watermark.

I've had this happen a few times. Once, somebody had a picture from my website embedded in theirs as if it was their own. I simply changed the picture to a graphic that said "This idiot is stealing my bandwidth". They noticed a few days later and removed it.

But even better than that, I've caught one major newspaper and one online business publication doing it. I e-mailed the newspaper about it and was ignored, but on the business publication, I put a notice in their comments section about it. They almost immediately removed the image...but also banned my home IP address from visiting their site.

The thing is, it's not like I wouldn't have given them permission if they'd simply asked. I get two or three requests a year and have never turned anyone down.

It has to happen more than I know because, with the exception of the first case (which I caught in my site statistics, which showed the IP address the image was being linked from), I caught these completely by accident. One image showed up linking to a story in a Google news search about the subject of the photo, for example.

NICOClub does not host any of the photos shown on this forum. It would be impossible to 'watermark' them.

It's up to the member to take whatever steps they feel is necessary to protect their images. But honestly, once they are on the net they are available to everyone.

It's up to the photo's owner to take measures to ensure copyright and enforcement.
