ok one more question on this,

I was told by a couple people that carry the head gasket online that the gasket needs NO oring, now today speaking to SCE directly he informed me they had no such "bolt on and go" head gasket at this point and that the EARLIEST would be no sooner than spring for the de...

So does the block need to be O ringed or not? I am very frustrated at this point. nico can help me and thanks in advance

You dont need an O-Ring for a copper gasket, they are even more forgiving than a MLS gasket. They might be making a HG with provisions for a o-ring or something idk..

Post up the companies who have copper gaskets FS please so i can take a look, curious.

My engine builder told me the block needs to be o-ringed for it to be reliable w/a copper HG. They ARE reusable though.

I had found 2-3 places that make copper head gaskets...some would do custom thicknesses as well. Great for dropping the compression a bit and ramping up the boost

supposedly you can heat them up (in the oven i guess) and that will allow them to retake their shape. Ive never done this myself but Sonny's Racing (Mountain motor pro stock 800ci engines) reuses their Cometic and copper gaskets depending on the wear of the engine they came out of.

I'm curious about the o-ring issue myself. SCE's website says that they need to be o-ringed, but 480 says that they don't. I might be replacing my head gasket soon and I'm debating fel-pro or a copper HG.

After everything I've went through with my Cometic (yes, I know it's not copper), but I don't think the price/trouble is worth it unless your over 500 rwhp. Stick to Fel-pro OEM so it's easy!

Awesome, I doubt I'll even have 215 hp so Fel-Pro it is!

What turbo are you running that little hp on? lol

thats funny you would need a tiny turbo and extremely low boost still would be fun, I doubted my t25 stock injector setup was making over 200whp, but in hindsight I'm sure it was(at 11psi). If this is a de motor and its in good condition then I dont see why 5psi wouldnt yield you 45~55hp... I started at 5psi and it make all of 50 hp, non intercooled.

I went back with felpro, no boost yet been raining for 5 days now here in florida, looking for a couple more days still..... when it stops the oil pan gasket gets replaced and the turbo setup goes back to its rightful place...

If you o-ring the motor it will never leak...ever. You'll pop ring lands before the gasket goes. But I've seen copper gaskets used without o-rings and work just fine.

Would I try it on the KA? Definitly.
