Well, I was on my way home from seeing a lil' lady, feelin' pretty good. I was getting on the on-ramp to 575N from Sixes Road (for those in the area), and got on it pretty hard. I don't usually drive stupid all the time, but when I feel the need to, an on-ramp to an interstate seems like a pretty safe place. When was the last time you saw a cop waste his time gunning people on on-ramps? I know I've never seen one. So obviously I was unpleasantly surprised when "LASER" pops up on my Passport as it emits a sound that scares my right hand all the way to the e-brake pull maneuver. At the end of the ramp I see the cop jumping in his car.

Usually if something like this happens (not that it does), I look for a quick neighborhood to dip into or something, but the next exit wasn't for a few miles. He was pretty far back, but as soon as his lights came on I just went ahead and pulled over. This is the conversation that ensued:

Officer: Where are you in SUCH a hurry to go this evening!? I clocked you with LASER at 78 mph on an ON-RAMP! And that's LASER! It couldn't have hit anyone else!

Me: I was heading home, I'm sorry I didn't realize I was going that fast.

Officer: Let me see your liscense, this is the second time I've pulled you over... (after he saw the dumbfounded look on my face he said) The first time was right after you got the car and I pulled you over for not having a tag. Sit tight for a couple of minutes.

*Officer goes to his car, then comes back*

Officer: Do you have insurance on this vehicle?

Me: Yes.

Officer: The reason I ask is because the state computer doesn't show you having insurance. Do you have an insurance card?

Me: Yes. (I give him the card)

Officer: Sit in your car for a few minutes.

*Officer goes to his car for about 10 minutes or so while I sat there asking myself why I'm such a fkn jackass and why I have to drive so fast for no reason. I thought about getting a slow-*** car so I wouldn't be tempted to drive fast. The officer approaches the vehicle once more. He holds out the laser gun to show me the reading*

Officer: See that!? 78mph at 455ft! I couldn't get in touch with your insurance company, so I'll just take your word on the insurance this time, but I better not ever catch you violatin' the law again! You aren't a NASCAR DRIVER! This is NOT a fast car! That exhaust you have is nothing but SHOW! It doesn't do ANYTHING! And it's ILLEGAL! Did you know THAT!? Anything but stock exhaust is ILLEGAL! My Sargeant loves to right tickets for that all day long! The next time I have to pull you over for violatin' the law other than for that exhaust I'm going to write you every ticket I can come up with and tow your vehicle!

Keep in mind that my S13 has an SR20DET swap, mildly modified. I wouldn't say it is blazing, but it is probably a mid to low 13 second car with a good driver, and it could definately rip his cruiser a new *** hole. I don't know how he could say that my car is not fast when he clocked me at 78mph at the top of the ramp lol.

Anyway, I still have no idea why he didn't write me a ticket for that one, because he was really, really, mad, and he must've really hated my car if he remembered pulling me over 6 months ago for not having a tag yet. I'm really glad he didn't write me a ticket though... Whew!

That cop was almost a cowboy. Somedays you are lucky and get let off. I guess you have a few more tickets to earn later on.

That seems like the most cops that I know. Just be cool and respect them and you should have no problems. Oh yeah don't lie, they hate it when people lie and try to make up stories!!

One time I was driving by myself in the express freeway and I got off the carpool exit without thinking and there was a motorcycle cop. He ask for my license and didn't come back for 10 minutes. I didn't have insurance at the time and was scare ****less.

Officer:let me see your registration and insurance.Me:I don't have insurance officer.Officer: You what?Me: I sorry I don't have insurance.Officer: Why don't you have insurance?Me: I don't drive my car, I ride a motorcycle and I just took the car out for a drive today, thats also why I didn't realize about getting off at the carpool/HOV exit. (which is okay for motorcycles to use in our state)Officer: You know how much a ticket for not having insurance is? It's really expensive and I don't want to do that. So next time I see you driving I see impound your car and arrest you.

since then I got insurance.. scared the **** out of me. I think if only cops would just give warning like that it's hella cool.

*tisk tisk* Shouldn't speed like that.

I think he called your car 'slow' because he know's his car runs 18s and hopes you will never think that you could leave him in the dust, because you could.

What's the highway speed limit in your area? In MI, it's 70, so you'd only be about 8 over...

Maybe he respected you being that you stopped. And figured he'd rather scare you so you stop speeding. Also may of been the end of his shift.

I'm not really sure. The other day I noticed that there is not actually a posted speed on that particular on-ramp, and the speed on that interstate is 65... who knows... Maybe he actually could not give me a ticket...

I got 5 tickets the first year I had my 240. 2 within a week. Thank God all 8 years later I have never gotten another. I still speed but not like I used to. But down here it's common for people going from Baton Rogue to New orleans to go around 90mph. I usually find a pack and back off to safe distance and just go with them. Mostly it's mid 80's on the interstate but I all ways look for the 90 pack..

i thought on-ramps didnt have posted speed limits, just advisory speed limits, notice they arent black and white signs, instead theyre yellow and black.

i used to love doing that when i was in school, kids would pass me at like 85 mph, and then brake at the off ramps and i would be damn near in their back seat the whole time.

I really have no idea what he was...other than not a gsp. I think he was probably either Holly Springs (more than likely, because he pulled me over before for no tag like at the top of that same ramp) or possibly Cherokee County...

Yeah I have GSP patrol post on my exit...

I got a warning the other day for blowing a stop sign. The Officer was really nice and polite. If you show them respect then they usually respect you back.

I don't know, I've never seen it enforced, but on one of two off ramps I usually use, I was about an 1/8th of a mile back from a guy on a street bike, he was one of the members of this street bike club in Mid-Michigan. He was trying to stand on his seat or something onto the ramp (the recommended speed was 35, I think he was going QUITE a bit faster than that) and he didn't make the turn at all...He went straight over it, flew about 100-200 feet and hit a dirt wall.

Yeah. He died.

i work at a small shop near my old highschool. it was a sat. in the summer and really nice out and decided to push it a little while on the way home. there is a long strip infront of the high school thats alot of fun so i floored it until i noticed a white car a quarter mile down the road...it was a cop..horay. he turns around, i get pulled over..

officer: son i caught you doing 80 in a school zone (20mph!!)me: yeah....officer: can i have your id/registration

goes back to the car for a few minutes..im ****ting bricks the whole timehe comes back

officer: son, where you goin?me: home..officer: home from?me: work..officer: where's work?me: burns automotive...right down the road..

*five second pause*..

officer: hows that mustang there building up?me: awesome! its away right now getting painted a really sweet blue from a 01 mach 1...

from then on me and this cop started talking about cars for the next ten minutes. he had a ticket IN HIS HAND when he walked up to the car the second time...and he let me go...telling me to "speed in moderation"....I should of had my car towed and me in the back of the squad car.

I got pulled in what must have been quota time here in colonial heights, va. I was coming down this short hill where the speed limit is 25 that goes to 45 and I came down doing 38 or 42...I forget. It was late I was headed home and didnt even see the cop sitting at the bottom of the hill, only way I noticed him was I saw that red flash that comes on when the alert goes off inside their car. So I just pulled over, he never got a chance to put on his lights, so he does a u-turn and pulls up behind me lights flashing spotlight out, etc. Walks up to the car,"license and registration." walks away. 10 min later comes back,"sign here" none of this "where you in a hurry to" or "Could you tell me y you were goin so fast". The week before I had gotten a ticket passing a drunk driver in chesterfield county. my court dates were 1 week apart. I ended up with drivers ed for both offenses, got off lucky there. I was 16 at the time dont drive that way anymore....let's just say I speed responsibly

I've only been pulled over once. This street near my house starts out at 45 and halfway it switches to 35. The street should really be at 55 then 45. Well I just switch to the 35 zone, and as I was slowing down, this truck in the other lane goes by with a cop right behind it, I couldn't see him . He turns around as I'm trying to make a left hand turn onto a busy road. He turns on his lights and I pull over. 43 in a 35. He left me off with a warning...

How is pulling someone over for 8 miles over the speedlimit benefiting society? How was I hurting anyone? I'm against the current traffic system, it need a revamp.

Heres another story, rather strange.

I pull into my parking spot at work, and then cop pulls up behind my car. I sit there for a minute before getting out. When I do, the cop yells, "Hey, little man, come over here" (I'm 6'2") "Yes sir?" "Do you work here?" "Yes sir I do" "Like your job?" "Yes sir" (Not really) "Do you want to keep it?" "Yes sir" "Well slow your butt down, you here me?" "Yes sir, sorry"Then the jackass drives off. I was very confused.

The Passport ZR3 Shifter would've prevented him from getting a LIDAR reading from front or rear. $399.
