How many of you are using stock radiators on your sr20's, does anyone know the demensions of the radiator. And has anyone tried using a radiator from a different car.

I am using the stock S14 KA radiator on my S13 blacktop. The S14 ratiator is bigger than the S13 so its sort of a upgrade. But I will be getting a Koyo or Greddy radiator in a little over a month.

I'm running the stock S13 rad with S13 vehicle, and it blows balls. I overheat all the time.

I don't get it??? Why will the rad work in the japanese car and not in the american car. Arn't they the same. Why do we have heating problems and not them.

Does anyone know the size of the s13 radiator?

The only time I ever had trouble with overheating was when I first got the motor running.

I have an Essential (made by Koyo-basically the same as Koyo type S) copper/brass radiator that's thicker than the stock SR POS. Supposedly it cools very well, even with an upgraded turbo.

Stock SR radiator works incredible for me. I can drive without the clutch fan in the summer and not get close to overheating.

It's the FMIC on the s13 that will kill you. I ran one fan with the KA rad at 10-12lbs in the summer w/ no overheating. As soon as the front mount went on I started overheating. So now it's time to upgrade to the Koyo or GP Sports.

I guess its different for everyone because I am running a Greddy R-SPL on a S14 KA radiator and have no problems.

Anyone know if a 300zx rad fits, and would a 2 core metel be better the a 1 core aluminum?

I have a GReddy FMIC, S13 SR Radiator, clutch fan, crappy electric fan and no fan shroud and I have no problems. And I didn't have any problems before I put the electric fan on either.

I see you are running stock boost also. I am pushing 1 bar hence the extra heat. But the clutch fan rocks also:thumbup

Just get a front clip and use the JDM radiator, they cool great from what I hear, even with a FMIC. Much better than our stockers.

I have the "JDM" radiator. It is exactly the same size just the openings are on the correct side. Can we say wasted $50 bucks. Once I get my Koyo the JDM y0! is going on ebay so I can make my money back:mad:

Interesting, I've heard about 4 different people tell me that the JDM radiators cool better than the USDM, I dunno, do you have a FMIC? Any cooling problems?

I do have a FMIC. Before I put the FMIC on she ran fine all the time. Now if I push it too hard for too long I will overheat. With the SMIC and one electric fan I ran fine all the time. Even with significant track time and many hot laps

Now with two fans and JDM rad I overheat when running hard. Time to step up to the big three core aluminum or two core copper.

Things I have tried:Flush and fill coolant systemNew thermostatBleed coolantChecked flow through radiator

Still overheats. I just need to get a bigger rad:(

Running 14lbs with the stock rad and FMIC just doesn't vibe.

Would a rad cap that is pooched cause the car to overheat?

How important is using the shroud with the electric fan? I have the stock SR electric and clutch fan, but the shroud is busted and I don't want to use the clutch fan. Do I have to get a fancy aftermarket elec. fan? I have FMIC, Essential copper/brass rad. (like Koyo type S-Jspec runs big turbos oh this), Nismo thermostat, Blitz cap. Does this sound like I need Permacool or FAL to ru in 90 degree weather?

Do you track the car. It only overheats when I track it in the heat. Daily driving duties she runs fine only when I push it hard.

well, I run on the local twisty roads where the car is subjected to mass boost and high rpms for like 45mins at a time, does that count? My first drift event is this sunday and next weekend is my first autocross, I will let you know how it holds up...
