I was driving (smelled coolant) then when i looked my temp shot up to H. When I pulled in to the yard I popped my hood and there was coolant/ strong spray of steam coming from the rear of the motor, mid-block passenger side...any help? I drive a 92' hatch w/ a stock ka24de.

Sounds like the heater core lines? One could have sprung a leak ^_^ and thats about the spot.

Cool that helps. I just started it up this morn. w/ the radiator cap off and when it heated up colant started to boil out, along with the top hose being super hot and the bottom hose ice cold. It was still leaking from mid-block area so i'll check the heater core lines. Thanks.

Thats also a sign of a circulation problem....

T-stat could be air locked....or waterpump. Or radiator is gummed up. If bottom hose is cold, and top one is hot...theres no circulation.

Find the leak, fix it. But before you drive it try replacing the thermostat and bleed the system thoroughly.

Mine was the upper hose had a rippe in it,so I change it.,then started to have other problems, with overheating thought it was the thermostat, bottom hose cold upper hot, change the thermostat same thing cold and hot hose,so I thought it was the thermostat, hear some termo are defective so I bought two different termo, tryied them both same thing, water pump work,no white smoke, run with out thermo does not overheat till and hour or so in stop and go traffic.and the water level sims low,but don't see water under car or heater core, Can't run it forever with out thermo. I notice something the heater core top hose is hot and the bottom warm, think there is a flow problem??
