Cooling system fluid M45 2004? Help

I'm curious to know what specific fluid goes inside the reservoir that holds the hydraulic cooling fan fluid under the hood on the driver side of engine once you take the V8 cover off.

Where can i buy this fluid... I have to find this leak and get to the bottom of it.

I notice that my reservoir gets low from time to time this explains the leak that i mistaken for the oil leak.

What kind of damage can this cause if i contine to drive with the low fluid. (The coolent fluid is fine)

First thing you will do if you continue to drive like that is blow out the seals in the system which will start leaking out.....I believe the type of fluid it takes should be labeled on the reservoir cap itself or the owner's manual on the car or call in to infiniti...

As I recall, it is the same as Power Steering fluid - the service manual should have the exact specs (see link my spec) and quantities, etc.

By the way, this actually cools the fan and bearings, etc., so you don't want it to get low. Please find the leak and fix it.

And not too many dealership techs know about it either since so few of the 2003/2004 M45 were sold ... and it is a rare tech who can deal with it regularly!

FWIW, I have the fan fluid changed whenever I change the power steering fluid.

Yup ... I just checked. It is Power Steering Fluid in there. Cold maximum is 777 ml (about 26.3 US fluid ounces).
