Thus far it has just been all stock and self mixed (70/30) water/anti freeze. Temps always stay just around the middle of the stock gauge. I have a Nismo thermostat and Nismo rad cap. I am also considering stepping up to NPG coolant. I plan on keeping the just fine stock fan (don't argue with me here, it won't change my mind) but for a lightly tuned street car, is a radiator really necessary? Thanks for your input!

I'm using the stock fan and radiator, low temp. thermostat for ca18de, stock fan, water temp. sensor/gauge. If you don't run hot, ever, don't get a better radiator. If you're worried the stock gauge isn't telling you the whole story, get an aftermarket unit and find out what the temp. is. Props to using the mechanical fan, w/ the shroud I don't see how it's not as good as electrics.

The "issue" with the mechanical fan is that it's always there drawing power away from your wheels.

Switching to electric means you'll only lose power when the fans HAVE to run.I agree though that unless you're overheating there isn't really any point to switching to a new rad.. unless it's part of a larger build up.The cost of the rad and the electric fan will get you lots of other power-up goodies.

I am running a full SDS standalone with no problems using the stock cooling including fan and shroud. I am also using the stock turbo at 13 psi and have no cooling issues.

Don't mechanical fans disengage at higher speeds?

Yes, they do. Hence the name "clutch fan". There is a clutch that disengages at a certian RPM. Well, I will install the thermo and cap and NPG Saturday with my oil change and exahust install as well as boost up..,,I'll write a review, cuz if it can survive Texas heat, then it will help anywhere.
