Hey guys, Im having some heat issues at the track that I went to yesterday. I know its 100 degree outside and ton of humidity...but my car starts to creep past the halfway mark after about 10 laps. For cooling, I have fluidyne radiator, FAL dual pusher 210 i believe, redline water wetter, about 10-20% antifreeze, oil cooler. On the street driving 2hr there, it sits below the halfway mark. Im thinking that its needing some kind for shroud or or undertray to help track air to the engine and radiator. Anybody done anything like this that they would like to share?

My setup: rb25 with hks cast bottom mount gt35r, 550, greddy intake, 3" to 3.50 exhaust, custom fmic, and the little stuff....running on low boost 9psi.....

make a shroud that connects the bottom of your i/c to the lower rad support so all the air going thru ur i/c will be aimed at your rad

every little mod can lower your temps a few degrees here and there. The cheapest is ducting. a shroud beneath the car (like the factory radiator splash shield) helps a lot. also build a duct for the oil cooler. you already have a good radiator and a good oil cooler.. they just need to work more efficiently. puller fans instead of pushers help so the fans are not fighting with the fresh air coming in when you are moving.

venting the hood helps (right behind the radiator where there is low pressure). other than that, making sure your tune is good (bad tune can add a lot of heat), redline /boost is within reason also helps.

jrb92se....its an XS Engineering core with custom endtanks....really nice core

gawdzilla....thats what i was planning as well....plans-radiator top cooling panel, front shroud/ducting for the radiator, and an underpanel....i just want to see if anybody has done one, whats your experience, and how much of a dfference it helped with cooling...

my hood is vented right behind the radiator....i dont have room for pullers, wish i did, so pushers are here to stay....

Iron Monkey,
Where is your oil cooler located?

And yes, Ducting can be build pretty easily and it can be quite effective.

Also, there were some good threads on NRR about effective cooling solutions. I can't look them up now, or I would have.

oil cooler sits in front of the fans/radiator...bascially on the bottom core support....

what is NRR?

NRR is nissanroadracing . com. good site for people who actually track their cars.

i have done all the mods i listed above except for the hood vent. i'd start with ducting the ic/radiator area first with an undertray. the upper radiator guide has minimal effect, but i'm sure it does something. then move on to ducting and relocating the oil cooler. i would relocate it to in front of the washer resovoir if possible. that way it's not blocking your radiator.

you could mess around and do all the shrouds, ducting, pusher to puller fans, etc....and maybe subtract a few degrees off of your temp gauge. Or make room and go back to the stock clutch fan and be amazed!
