So I was going through and doing some routine maint. today you know checking at the fluid levels, and I pull the rad cap off and the coolant has like rust? floating in it? I don't think it's oil because it's not milky/white/brownish. It's redish brown and almost looks flaky I guess you could say. Any ideas? I mean I know our block are made out of rust aka iron, but any ideas if it might be coming from somewhere else like a water pump that's about to fail or a rusted out turbo from the waterlines, or ???? Not sure if this is normal or should I be concerned? (I mean I don't think I've really run across this so far but maybe it's just something that happens with CA's. I have had that water in there before(can't remember the name I think distilled water?) But that was when I ran into trouble with coolant awhile ago, but have since then switched back to coolant.

did you use water wetter before? that red slime crap happens when you use it with antifreeze
it could also be flux from the radiator probably

if you're really worried about it, just change the coolant :)

Sounds like it just needs a coolant flush. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Cool thanks guys, yeah just a little concerned is all. So yeah I'll do a flush soon. I plan on getting an all aluminum rad here so I'll do it then. I have a new WP I just bought and I need to order one of those greddy timing belts. Anyone know if anyone has ever made a clear cam cover for the CA?
