History: Car has overheated several times before, on two occasions bursting radiator hoses at the clamps. Car has a 14" permacool, off balance 1broken blade, replacement on order.

So last night i was out driving around and i notice that my car is running hot whenever i come to a stop. odd. Then i notice thin white smoke in front of my headlights.. bad.. and suddenly my heat doesnt work.. maybe i just boiled off some coolant and now there is an airbubble?

So, i get home, i pop the hood: Top hose is buldging and very very hot Core is cool lower hose is cool Car has no heat.Car's heat gauge off the chartMotor very hot.

I tried replacing the thermo today, I boiled old & new at the same time and new opened much faster than old.

Startup car. motor gets hotter and hotter, gauge goes up and up, hoses buldge.. by the time the gauge is all the way up the top hose gets hot (thermo opens?) Then i notice the radiator is leaking..

So now that you have the situation, here is my question. Obviously i need a new radiator. BUT is the hole in my radiator the cause of my overheating? or am i just going to burst another? What else might cause this?

is the fan operating properly? that's a strange one indeed. perhaps you've something causing a blockage or the water pump's not functioning properly. The lack of flow in the system is what's standing out to me. just an idea though.

#4 is explained by the fact that i have a bad seal on the plug well, so oil in the chamber, compression is higher than expected...

I am ordering a new waterpump /radiator. I sure hope its just a freak thing....

Yeah I just went through the whole thing, so I know how frustrating it is. Sounds like you may have figured out your problem, and the compression is good so that is a good sign, shouldn't have to worry about the head gasket. Let us know how it turns out.
