whats on may 15th in toronto?
Ouch! That really sucks! I've never had so much contact with the police since getting the J. If you can afford the time, it might be worthwhile to show up in court to plead your case. Dress nice, act humble and contrite and the judge might cut you some slack. Talking to a lawyer could give you a better picture of what to expect but you don't need one. Hey, a six month suspension still beats the hell out of a year.
Maybe say, "I'm sorry, your honor. The officer caught me fair and square and I know I was in the wrong. I realize I must pay a penalty for breaking the law but I'm a student and need to be able to drive. I would never consider driving without a licence so I'm wondering if you could reduce my penalty... blah, blah, blah...." See what he says. The worst he could do is say no but you could get away with a restricted licence or reduced suspension. You can do it all (set a court date, etc.) yourself if it's possible to appeal the penalty at this point in your suspension. Call the court. They'll tell you.
It's also interesting to see the cases that come up while you wait for yours to be heard. There are some real f*u*c*k* ups out there driving around. It's an eye opener for sure. When you hear what the Judge hears you'll see that the Judge will listen to your plea especially if you show up nicely dressed, have all your paperwork and show deference to the court. It might make the judge happy to grant some justice/mercy to a young person like you who is taking his predicament very seriously and sincerely.
Or, save your insurance and gas bills for your mods.
