my car is smoking when warming up and a little under accel when warm

the idle kinda moves up and down from like 500 to 1000 when its cold

make sure the connector is free of corrosion as well. You could always ohm out the temp sensor to be sure it falls with in specs from the FSM to be sure its your problem.

Sorry to resurrect, but wasnt sure if you fixed it. Did you check your O2 sensor. Mine did that when the sensor went out. Cheap part, easy install.

Check the TPS, idle speed, and for vacuum leaks.

for the record, i never replaced the CTS. I traced the problem to a bad MAF connection which i tightened up, problem has never returned.
