coolant

I pulled my thermostat off the other day and red coolant driped out and if you look inside the rad hoses you can see red what kind of colant should i use i heard you were supposed to use the green stuff

Red? Hmm..either there's rust in your coolant, or someone put that special type that's meant for GM vehicles. I just use that 50/50 coolant mix they sell, the green stuff, and the car takes 9 liters if it is totally empty.

there are red color coolant. you can buy any 50/50 mix is fine.

Different coolants are used for different metals. There is a yellow coolant out that is compatible with all engines. We use the yellow stuff at the bodyshop.

Its probably all rusty...

GM is orange

toyota uses red.

they all do the same damn thing, its just if you go into your local stealership with the "wrong" coolant they void your warranty.

50/50 is a little rich for coolant, but VA is chilly most of the year so I guess it isn't a big deal.

I use 80Water/20 coolant and a can of 40 below. It's 90+ outside here.

The thing you don't want to do is mix coolant types. Your best bet is to just drain and flush and then use all of one kind. If it doesn't freeze where you live very often 80/20 or 70/30 is a good way to go. More water is better if you live in a hot area.
