Hi all. I've tried doing many searches for this but haven't come back with anything useful. I'm ordering a new water temp gauge and need to know the stock thread pitch so I can order the proper adapter if necessary.

If anyone knows it off by hand that'd be great.

I would guess 1.5, but that's a guess. Could be 1.25. You can always take your old sensor to the hardware store, go to the nuts and bolts aisle and use their gauges to see what thread specs you have. Of course all of this makes me wonder how you get a temp sensor for your own car that requires an adapter... but I don't know the Z that well. Also, I'm not sure any listings for temp sensors will post thread specs on the part, but maybe. I hope your sensor just screws right into the engine for you. Good luck!

IN all cases with the Z32, using OEM replacement parts unless there's a known issue (none with the water temp gauge, known as the CTS) is ALWAYS the best path and avoids these types of questions/issues. There's NO WAY I'd go with any other CTS.
The CTS is a simple, cheap, commonly replaced item and certainly the ONLY easy job possible on a Z32 so just go to CZP or Z1 and e-spend your few bucks for the correct Nissan item, which will ship quick and install easily.
ANY questions can be asked with them during a phone-in purchase (recommended) as well, both are great in this area!

Some Nissans come with no water temp gauge at all and I intend to remedy that on mine. AS well, to OP, maybe you should get the gauge first, some use a slightly bigger OD main part (the very end) of the sensor that then requires not only a different thread but a different size of fitting as well. Meaning you may find yourself doing some custom plumbing there. I've done it a hundred times if once myself.

Until one goes to an always reading mechanical type water gauge one doesn't think much of them...............until
