I recently had noticed that my coolant reserve tank was missing its cap. I want to say it was the people who I go to for my oil change, tire rotation and ect. but without proof, I'm not going to point fingers. The issue is that the coolant level seems to get lower and lower over time. I've filled it up like 3 different times over the past few months, but I'm curious if that happens with or without the cap on? I never had a problem for the first 3 years of having this car. This came about when the engine light came on and noticed it when I popped the hood. I thought about just buying a whole new tank since its like $60 some odd dollars since I know for a fact that you can't easily find a cap somewhere.

Without the cap you will get evaporation. It's possible you will get some spills too. Go to Infiniti and get a cap.

Do you guys experience any coolant level evaporation besides the OP? I have been losing about 1/2" of coolant in the reservoir tank every month or so. I'm worried I need to check out my cooling system.

well i noticed that my engine temp was a little high so i decided to see if i needed more coolant..and when i went to fill it up..i noticed the cap missing. so from then on, i kept an eye on the coolant levels..other than that..my levels never really changed.

Have you had a coolant flush?

also, can this be related to my other thread i started about how my A/C blows ice cold at 60..but 61-90 feels like 90 no matter if its 63...75...?

as soon as i jump from 60 degrees to 61 its like a day and night difference.

I've never had that problem with coolant with my G but let me give you my $.02 when having any kind of work done on your car. It doesn't matter if its the dealer or someone else.

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR VEHICLE PRIOR TO DRIVING AWAY.

This includes lifting the hood, checking the oil and looking at other fluid levels, tires, walking around and looking under the vehicle etc.

bought the coolant reserve cap about 2 weeks ago and im still having problems with the fluid level getting too low. just last night i went to JAX to pick up my brother and realized that the level was low after filling it to the max line when i bought the cap. Can the level being too low trigger the SES light to come on?

if not then i need to have that code checked,

Could it possibly be getting into the crankcase due to a blown head gasket?
