I did a search for this, and couldn't find anything answering my question, but forgive me if it's a repost.

I noticed my coolant resivoir on my S13 was empty the other day, so I ran down to the local automotive store and picked up some coolant (yellow stuff). When I got home, I popped open the radiator, and found the stuff in there to be green. Then I remembered my friend telling me one time that the two (yellow and green) shouldn't be intermixed, as they'll neutralize each other. I didn't put any coolant in, and haven't driven it since (its been a couple days).

True, or BS? If true, what coolant do you guys recommend, if any?

you can just fill your rad with water... that works too...

I never heard anything about not mixing the 2 kinds??? it will be news to me if that is true.

BUt take th is time to go a head and flush out your rad.

put 50/50 mixture of coolant and water... and fill the resv. with coolant, that should do it!

Yeah, I've read about flushing the radiator, sounds pretty easy. Does the type of coolant matter? There are some that are made for newer vehicles, and some for older. Is it all the same?

it's all the same... not going to matter much..

flushing is very very simple...

there is a butterfly valve at the bottom of the rad.. open it. take your cap off... wait till it's empty..

flush it with water....

close off the valve. open up bleeder screw (it's right on top where the rad hose attactches to the engine block.. to release all the air,,

fill... leave the cap off. start her up and make sure you bleed all the air bubbles out and youre done

you can mix new coolant, with distilled water and redline water wetter. If you live in a cold area, then you can toss in antifreeze.
