Since I brought my 07 G35 I have only looked at the coolant level a couple of times, it has been high. Because it only 15 months old I assumed it's way it's supposed to be. The other day I looked at the manual, it should be no higher than "MAX" mark, when it's cold. Then I took a close at it, sure it's about one and a half inch above the Max. Because I have never done anything with the coolant It must be overfilled like this since day one. So I pulled out the reservoir and poured some coolant out until it went down to Max.

I guess this too much coolant didn't cause any harm. But I felt Nissan should have done it right before delivery of the car.

A few ounces one way or the other should make no difference. If it overflowed, or if it was empty, I'd take it in and tell the dealer about it.

Welcome to NICO

Since your vehicle is new, I think rather than removing some yourself, you should have returned to the dealer & had them not only look at it but to record your concerns. I don't believe anything was wrong or a little extra would cause any harm but if there was something wrong reporting it to the dealer under warranty is the best way to go. I doub't that it was a highly skilled and Infiniti trained highly paid tech that puts coolent in vehicles?

Never try to fix anything that isn't broke

Thanks teloman.I guess what the dealer will do is to drain the coolant, and have me keep eyes on it, if I had taken it to the dealership, it's simple enough for me to do it myself. I doubt they will do anything such as a test that is more time consuming unless it's more serious than this. You know making a trip to dealership and having to wait there is not fun.

Moonriver:

Your car is fine. Though, I agree with Telcoman, on the part that you should have taken it to the dealer.

Look, I have my little Nissssan which is also a stick just as my G-35 Coupe 6MT. I can't tell you how many times I routinely overfill the car, and yet, she keeps on going. I beleive i have broken every rule of the manual the car came with and yet, the car still runs great, everyday. Has 246K on the odometer. I can't man-handle the car any more than I have already done to it. So, I drive her easily these days, because she has lived up to all my expectations of a small car. Between 180K and 230K I had completed 5 different 22-hour round trips with her. She was smoking other much newer cars on each of those trips. I found it impressive. My G-35 Coupe has a huge shoe to fill.

Coolant overfilling isn't a big deal. If it gets too hot, it will simply boil out to the relief drain. Oil is the only fluid that can cause damage if it's overfilled.
