I've been having a few problems with my 240 recently. First I was having some problems with the cat, and had a mechanic fix it. Then that same day I took it home and parked it, it started dripping coolant to the floor. It wasn't too bad. The next morning, there was a pool of green coolant all over the ground. I tried to drive it to the shop, but it started smoking about half way there, so I stopped the car in front of this lexus dealership. The salesman there helped me out a little and told me that my radiator is shot and my drain**** is loose. He gave me some coolant and told me to wait a few minutes and then try to start the car and take it to the shop. My car started smoking again 1 block away from the shop, so I ended up parking the car in a parking lot right by it for a night. The next morning, I took it to the shop, and they said they needed to replace the radiator. They put in a new one, and this morning, I went by and picked it up. It was driving fine, but then when I got home and parked it, within a few minutes, it started leaking coolant to the ground. I popped the hood and there was coolant all over. There was coolant dripping out of the hole in the hood of the car, the battery was covered with some coolant, and there was coolant drops around the front of the engine bay. The coolant that dripping from the hood was falling above the radiator and it was smoking a little bit. I'm gonna take it back in to the shop tomorrow for them to fix it again.

What can be the problem here? Did my mechanic just do a ****ty job? I've been so frustrated recently with this car.

aye, the 240 should have an overflow can like most newer cars, if it's running too hot and boiling the coolant, it'll overflow and spray all over the place.

Is the car running hot or is the temp gauge even reading where it normally should?

A thermostat should be an easy 20 dollar fix/ 20 minute job if done yourself. I've never put one on a 240 though...

If you wanna save, and not worry about getting ripped off, perhaps a good set of tools and a good manual and lots of questions are in order:)
