Bad week for my ca18.
i got a new water pump from an 86 200sx ca18et
replaced it tightened down. now i still got burning anitfreeze. so i removed the timing cover again and low and behold right under my water pump its leaking coolant out of a 1 inch square. i dont recall doing anything to it before i replaced the water pump. but its leaking a very very constant coolant. what can i do about this? its not from the water pump its leaking right under it. out of a little outlet. need help big time... can i plug it or what should i do? i need the gurus

Sounds like you have a faulty water pump. If the coolant is coming out of the blow-hole, then the pump is definitely faulty.

Dee you are truely a living legend when it comes to these engines. What would you reccomend pump wise?
And if you have the time for personal reference how does the blow hole operate with the water pump and what would cause it to be spurting constant coolant?
Oh and another thing. when i put the pulley back on the water pump it aligned a little farther out than the crank and alternators pulley? and comments? but thanks again man

So i took my old pump off and sure enough the water pumps wheel is all melted. but i think they gave me the wrong one at first. the first i got had a plastic type wheel. the next one i got came with a metal or ceramic wheel. well long story short my water pump is running in tip top shape. But the bad news is i left my clutch fan off (it s pretty beat up) and last night she drove just fine for 45 min until it starts smoking again. so i look and the radiator its self is leaking. but i didnt look as if much were coming from the cap or overflow but more just centered on the radiator. The foam support that sits between the frame and radiator was just soaked with coolant. So now a faulty radiator or would you think no clutch fan could have caused heating issues. if that were the case though how would it be leaking without me being able to really find the source.... soooner or later everythings gonna be new... and then no more minor set backs :rotfl

Driving with no clutch fan will definitely cause heating issues. As for your radiator leaking, do you have a coolant overflow tank hooked up? if not, you probably just overheated and the coolant was boiling out under the cap and making it look like a leak.
