So earlier today at work, when I got back from my lunch break, I noticed a bunch of smoke coming from my hood, so I popped my hood to take a look at what was going on. Turns out there's a loose elbow shaped hose leaking coolant right under the throttle body. Luckily I work right next to the only mechanic in my town (I live on a small island) so I pulled my 1999 QX4 into his shop so he could get a quick look at it. The mechanic immediately spots the leak and tells me it could be a $20 hose fix. He also said it could be a big project for him to where he'd have to remove the manifold to get to the leak. To me it looks like he would just have to remove the throttle body to get to it. Has anyone else had this particular coolant leak? I can't even drive my car for more than five minutes without it leaking coolant and smoking up. I would do the work myself but I don't have the proper tools or experience to try a project like this. He told me to drop it off Thursday morning so hopefully it will be fixed soon! I have no idea what the cost will be but hopefully not a hole in my pocket.

I have a 2002 Pathy with the larger 3.5 engine, but I suspect the cooling line to the throttle body does the same thing on both engines.
I had a very slow leak there as well.
On my engine (and I suspect it's the same on yours), the coolant runs through the IACV body, which is bolted to the throttle body.
The coolant heats and cools the IACV (indirectly).
In my case, it was just leaking at the small hose connection right at the IACV body.
The hose had a little bit of play in it, and that allowed me to trim a little bit off of the end of the rubber hose.
Clamped it back up, and no more leak. Cost: $0.00

That's awesome to hear! I have the 3.3 liter engine in my QX4 but I'm sure they're really similar engines. I'm like 70% sure the leak is coming from that same hose. I'm taking my truck to the mechanic tomorrow morning so my fingers are crossed!

Yes I got it fixed a couple of weeks ago. All he had to do was remove the throttle body to replace the small coolant hose. He said it was kind of a pain and that he hates how Nissan designed the hoses and lines in those engines haha. It was $120 but I'm just glad it's fixed!
