Our trusty 1995 240SX SE appears to have developed a minor coolant leak.

I had noticed a couple of spots on the garage floor and assumed it was possibly an odd drip or two of oil after an oil change!

Before washing the car today I decided to have a better look and see what the problem was and noticed that the lip around the top of the sump was wet and that a drip had formed at the lowest point - after a quick taste (sweet) it was determined that it is coolant.

I've not had a chance to verify if the coolant leak is coming from around the sump seal (see red mastic sealant!) or if it is coming from further up?

We've had this car for over 5 years now and other than replacing a thermostat, radiator and throttle position sensor, it has been pretty much bullet-proof.

The use of the gasket sealer does concern me though - I never noticed this at all when I bought the car in October 2001

Now that I've stopped to think about it - I guess I should check the thermostat housing and radiator hose connection first for signs of leaks?

Any other suggestions for likely locations of the leak?

Check also the water pump, there is a small weep hole on the bottom when the seal goes bad allows water to drip out. Also check the heater hoses and connections.
