Do you have normal coolant temp? Your best bet is to remove the reservoir and check for cracks. If not, problem is somewhere else - radiator, engine or heater core or tubings/fittings.
The mechanic who worked on your brakes - is he certified or just a shade tree mechanic? Brakes are safety items which MUST BE TESTED after repair/replacement to ensure they are working properly. It's obvious that he didn't do it,
You need to perform brake burnishing to ensure the brake materials are bedded-in. You can follow Nissan's recommended 31-0-10 (full stop from 31 MPH, 10 times) or Bendix's 30-30-30 (full stop from 30 MPH with 30 seconds cooling period, 30 times) or the better yet risky 60-10-10 (brake at 60 MPH until car slows down to 10 MPH, NEVER A FULL STOP, 10 times).
