Coolant hoses on block for heater core

Which way does the flow go? Out from under the intake manifold and back in through the back of the block? or is it the other way around? Cuz i just hooked up my heater core after it being disconnected for a long time and i cant get coolant to go into the core.....i need help...this is on an s14 motor

any suggestions?
