hey guys,

i need to flush my coolant, from the radiator and the block. heres my problem. i cant get the plug on the block off, its stripped. but ive flushed the radiator many times and as it draws water out of the engine, more crap keeps coming out so obviously, i need to flush the motor as well.

heres my question. can i take out the thermostat, put the lower hose back on and start pouring water into the top hose and let it drain out of the lower hose? i'll keep pouring water in until it comes out clear.

thanks in advance.

Yes. For good measure, you should remove the coolant lines for the turbo and flush them as well. Make sure there are no obstructions. I noticed a bit of buildup on the banjo fittings for the turbo, so you will want to check there as well.

Go to advanced Auto they have a peak coolant flush kit for $4.00

It hooks up to your heater lines.
Really easy to do.

It works great as an engine side bleeder cap too.

Actually just thinking about you could hook up the hose to it, then open your rad cap and bleed the air out of it easily.

That's how I used to fill my SR lol. I used to fill it backwards. I did it that way because I used to always have air bubbles caught at the rear of the motor or around the heater core (hear it gargling from inside). Even jacking the front of the car didn't help much. All I did was take an old garden hose that was going to be tossed, chopped the end off, and clamped it to a big a** funnel. Filled backwards until I saw coolant get close to the neck of the radiator with the cap off.
