When i did the radiator flush on my Altima sedan, i started the flush by removing the drain plug from the radiator and draining the overflow tank . Just skim the bottom of the radiator and you should find the drain plug while the overflow tank on the 3.5 model is on the passenger side front fender inside the engine bay containing coolant inside. Drain the old coolant out into a container from both the radiator and overflow tank. I then removed the Radiator cap and put the garden hose in there (leaving the overflow tank dry). Then Start the car and keep running water through the radiator until the liquid pouring from the drain plug went from green (coolant color) to clear as the water being dispensed from the garden hose ***ENSURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH WATER FLOWING THROUGH YOU GARDEN HOSE TO KEEP THE RADIATOR FULL WHILE THE DRAIN PLUG IS DRAINING OR THE WATER PUMP WILL CAVITATE***. If the coolant temperature gauge won't go up to normal operating temp (happened to me since the tap water is so cold it kept the thermostat from opening), turn on the air conditioning and the hot air blowing from the condenser will warm up the radiator resulting in the thermostat opening BUT MAKE SURE THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DOES NOT INCREASE BEYOND NORMAL OPERATING TEMP, IF IT DOES SHUT THE CAR OFF BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH WATER IN THE SYSTEM WHICH MEANS THE WATER PUMP DOES NOT HAVE AN ADEQUATE WATER SUPPLY. After the clear water is observed and the system is clean shut the car off and let the water drain from the radiator. When all the water is out, reinstall the drain plug. Then fill the radiator and overflow tank with a 50/50 coolant mixture. Then start the car with the radiator cap off and let it run observing the coolant level in the radiator, it should drop down as the thermostat reopens and its circulating coolant because there will be air in the system. Let the bubbles, bubble out and keep adding coolant until the level no longer decreases and stays at the radiator cap opening (sort of like bleeding air out of a brake system). When the big bubbles stop reinstall the radiator cap (you'll sometimes get small bubbles here and there as the system recirculates which is normal). Ensure the drain plug is not leaking as the system pressurizes with the cap on and the car running and you should be good to go.
