My 97 maxima is having a coolant issue, the coolant is flowing from the engine into the reservoir tank what does this mean and how do I fix it????

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. The reservoir is make for excess coolant. If it is over flowing from the reservoir, then you probably have too much coolant in the system. Does the car over heat?

There is a antifreeze level mark for a cold engine and a level markfor a hot engine on the reservoir. You can tell if you have addedenough depending on the engine temperature.

Due to pressure changes, since the radiator is pressurized, theantifreeze constantly moves to the reservoir tank and back UNLESSyou are very low on antifreeze.

I checked under the engine and the top hose was sucked in and i opened the radiator cap it was like a vacuum when it came off the hose reinflated, as for the reservoir the coolant was never higher than the max line now it is way above it, I had flushed the radiator before and added coolant, for some reason it didn't take a whole gallon of coolant to fill it up, I have a feeling there's something wrong like a blockage or something.

If the hose was collapsed, definitely replace it. You'd be wise to replace the thermostat as well in case it's not opening/closing properly.

You have some air in your system I think. I have heard you can try this.First park your car on a slight incline like you are going up the hill.Take off the radiator cap while the engine is cool and slowly add fluid as the engine warms up and thermostat opens. The angle issupposed to help purge the air out.

I havent tried this but have only heard of it. Look in the floor shopmanual and see if there are any air bleed screws.
