Ok,Im installing a Mechanical Water Temp gauge into the plug in the block for draining the Coolant, I have an autometer gauge, it came with a small thread permanantly attached to the sensor, and an adapter (looks like its for a chevy 350 or something) thats freaking huge (not gonna fit at all...)

does anyone know the size and threading for the plug? I was told by my friend that into the block was the way to go (chevy guy), Im just stapped for time and cant seem to find any info on it... (curious if I'll have to buy an adapter)

Ne better ways of installing the sensor?

I know i still have to get an adapter to install my Oil pressure unit... :-/thats next on my list...

Graci! :Jon

i wish i could tell you but since you need to take the plug out to put your sensor in, then take it out and measure it up. thats just what i would do. hopefully someone knows and will share because that sounds like a good place. tucked out of the way and all.

yeah that goes in the upper radiator hose, right? that would work great but i think by putting the sensor in the block you get a better idea of what temperatures the block is experiencing versus having it take temp readings along the midpoimt of the rad hose.

I hope you can get the plug out of the block. I tried to get it out and could not get that S.O.B loose. You reallly have to weave your arms through the exhaust piping and all that **** to be able to reach it. If you can get it out i would just use a thread key to figure out what kinds of threads it has.

P.S.

Hope you have better luck with the drain plug than what i had.

i would not advise one of those adapter things for a mianul gauge. those are made for the 3/8 npt electric fittings, not the 1/2 npt (pretty sure thats the size of the manual sendors) sendors, so you might as well tap it into the intake mani or somewhere were soolant flows before the rad.!

also, for random people reading this, if you get the adapters with a elctric gauge, you have to ground the sender, there is a special hole and screw just for the grounding of the adapter, it will not work if you dont ground it.
