Okay, so I'm new. Not just to this forum but also to what's under my hood. As my name says I have a 95 s14 in the US. I "Flushed" the coolant in my car recently. I did this by opening the drain c*** at the base of my radiator and the cap. After everything drained I replaced the drain plug and poured one 22oz container of Valvoline Zerex Super Flush into the radiator and filled the rest with tap water. I used the super flush because the previous fluid was BLACK!? Replaced the cap and ran the car with heater on hot untill gauge registered regular temp. Let the engine cool, drained in the same manor, refilled with tap water, ran till warm again. Drained again, water came out clear. Filled the radiator with 60/40 Prestone/Water. It took under 1 gallon!? I let the car idle for a while until it overheated. After the engine cooled I took the radiator cap of to see a need to more coolant. Topped it off with the rest of my gallon. Let it idle for 15min until it overheated again. This time while cooling the top radiator hose imploded. Like placing a finger at the end of a straw and sucking the air out. What did I do wrong? I understand the s14 likes to trap air in the coolant system. What do I do now?

Well if you think you still have air in the system then let it get to a warm up temperature. Turn off the car, open the radiator cap with a towel (pointing it away from you, people and the engine) and let the steam come out. Then proceed to fill it some more.

Next time you fill it, ad your coolant and water but leave the rad cap off. Start the car and watch it. You will see the coolant flow once the thermosat opens up. From there you can see if you are low or not on coolant. Just keep adding till the coolant is flowing and your radiator is almost filled to the top. Once you are sure everything is ok, shut the car off, put the cap on and then fill your over flow bottle to the low line.
