I have my new longblock ready to go in but i have a few questions on what i can do to simplify all those nasty little coolant lines towards the back of the block. So can i bypass the coolant lines that go to the back of the intake manifold and instead just run that line straight to the turbo? Why does that un-boltable plate on the back of the upper intake manifold need coolant lines running to and from it anyway? For the same reason the TB has coolant lines running to it?

Here i included a picture of what the heck I'm talking about. The only thing that concerns me is that There seems to be some type of adjustment screw that looks important(shown by smaller arrow). Could that control the flow of coolant to the turbo or something?

they are there to keep the throttle plate and PCV valve from freezing in the winter I would assume. I also read on SXOC, that because these little lines are the highest points in the cooling system, when the car is shut down air bubbles migrate upward into TB, and PCV plate and fresh coolant is pulled through your turbo.

I did away with all of it, but I can hear water boiling in my turbo after shut down. Im sure some coolant will alleviate what Im hearing though, as Im running distilled water + water wetter at the moment.

yep bypass that puppy.

I have seen mistreated CA18s with those pipes completely rusted out, spraying coolant/rusty water all over the firewall.

The 'adjuster' is a bung. To simplify the casting of the water channels..
