is this normal?

I just bought a car but the rad. doesnt seem like its factory/have sufficient cooling requirements.

However, the car never overheats or anything.. the coolant overflow tank is busted and i can see it bubbling and it seemed like it was boiling as well.

Having a few problems with this new coupe.. PS is dead, seems like the rack, seeing the boots are cracked/opened and it seems like its drenched in oil/ps fluid/etc, having constant belt squeak at 3k+ rpm.. (was annoyed to hell during my drive back with the car on the highway w.o radio! )

and why does the car sound like a SEMI?

I've owned two before this, but wow, this is an UNUSUAL sound. It sounds just like a SEMI, of course, i'm sure this is just the transmission.

If anyone can help with anything i've listed.. i'd greatly appreciate it!!thanks guys

sounds like a semi????exhaust or suspension wore out?Is it water only in your radiator or mixed with fluid? No radio takes about 10minutes to wire one up.

yeah, no radio = no biggie.the exhaust and suspension are fine, the semi noise is exactly like when you hear a semi accelerating/revving.that... long "vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrom" sound.. i really cant describe it

i know for sure i need to flush that rad, the water/coolant is murky.

also.. is the engine fan supposed to turn by hand? i was looking at the car before and it wiggled and spun and everything, but after ~130 miles, its on there as tight as can be..

i have to go try things on my hatch to compare the two, mechanically, tomorrow first thing.

yes, this car sounds like it has a lot of problems.. but the pwr sunroof doesnt even work.. i hope its only a fuse or a switch.

edit: and the dumbass who owned it before the person i bought it from welded the open diff.. it'd cause wheelhop if i turn too quick/gas out of a corner too fast, right? Damn it.

Belt squeal is an easy fix most of the time. Replace the belt that is squealing with a new one(if the belt looks pretty old), and then adjust to the proper tension. It could be that the alternator belt was loose, causing it to slip and squeal, which would also affect the water pump. That may explain the boiling coolant you see. I also would not trust the stock water temp gauge.

yes, the fan should rotate freely by hand. If not, replace the fan clutch. That could be the source of the windy sound.

something could be seized i.e water pump or the belt could be stretched. to my knowledge water pump and power steering have the same belt. If the coolants boiling and no power steering i would look at those two things first. good luck

yeah, i saw the belt and they're finebut is the fan supposed to be able to rotate either direction w.o much force?

it'd rotate in a clockwise dir. but it wouldnt rotate cc.

i need to get a new fan also.. a bearing inside the fan is protruding from where the fan meets the crank(?)
