the skids were from first night drags meeting,at the second meeting on the second race the big ends decided to spin again,we are gutted! most likely due to oil surge as pick up and sump are all standard, will strip down to see damage and hopefully savagable, was running 14psi and hoping to do 10s but never happend

That's pretty brutal!

Gutted about your motor man. Would like to get to the bottom of oil pressure loss and sort out the most efficient solution!

yep will be doing some proper research on sumps oil pick up and oil pumps,we run a single stage peterson wet sump pump on the fj20 we run in the escort and never have had any bearing issues,i used to work for a place called Track Sport Engines which was a part of a place called Protopline-Proaction cylinder heads which did make pretty awesome sprint car heads and the like, the guys that run the engine shop have had alot of experience in wet sumps with group a jet sprint boats and new zealand V8 tourers, they very keen to come up with a solution, they had alot of success with wet sumps by manipulating oil restrictors and stuff, will keep everyone informed of any solutions we can come up with without moving to a full dry sump set up which would cost about as much as three VH45s put together,OUCH

Is this where an oil pump is required to suck excess oil from the cam covers to the sump?I think they do this with the RB engines?

Keeo me informed as well. I too have had a big end problem and with the new build I've turned the sump around. I'm also increasing the depth of the sump quitea bit so that I can increase the oil volume by about 2 litres and drop the oil level reletive to the crank at the same time.

With the new motor we were also planning in opening the main and big end clearances like the stock cars were doing.
