so, i heard you can put a cool air intake on these motors, yet every manufacturer i have found does not give you the option of going all the way back to '85. I have a z24 with the stock carb. Wondering if anyone has successfully attempted to install one on a z24, and if so, what kind is it? thanks

no such thing on carb'd models... there is a guy on ratsun who is fabbing up some cold air prototypes for weber carbs... not sure about the progress on that though

what you can do is cut away everything except the filter... lid... and piece that mounts to the carb... that's what i did

the webers come like this already

i did that, too., just did not cut the sides off like yours. just havn't gotten it running again yet. Total failure as a mechanic. I changed out the master cylinder, tried to bleed it, found out it has a damper thing, so i bled both. Yet it still makes a frightening noise when I release the clutch pedal. Kind of a hard knock that comes from the tranny somewheres. It used to intermittently make this noise, hence the master cylinder change. I am going to try bleeding it again but....not sure why it got worse instead of better. I guess this means the truck is really an '86?

I guess you could take out a high beam light and mos a tube up from it to the end of the stock air cleaner snorkel.

i've got an idea on how to make it like a ram air type intake without messing with the lights. I need my high beams at night on the dunes until I can get a kc light setup.

Please do tell!! I tried today to hook up some driving lights to replace the highbeams while using the stock harness and plugs. I forgot to check the power requirements and fried my headlight relay. It chatters lie crazy. Stock bulbs 50 watts, driving lights 55 watts.

kc lights would go to a fusebox that you can buy at any parts store, mount the lights where you need them. My idea for a ram air thing is in development, but a crude basic design is what i'm thinking of. I'll take some pics when it's done, and let everyone know if it works.
