the engine bay in the Altima is VERY tight, don't know if they will come out with a cold air intake for it...

Here's a "soon to be released" intake article that may help explain the differences...

When it stops raining pigs and horses, I'll look under my hood for some extra space. I'm planning on rigging up my own INJEN "cold ram-air" set up via the foglight cutout. I'll keep you guys posted.

what about a "quasi CAI" using the OEM scoop that draws from just above and outside the radiator...a thought

If you can get direct air then it is more a CAI than anything else. While a WAI has to deal with underhood air, a problem with the Injen, besides possible placement in front/side of the radiator, is that it is very close to the ground/road. During the summer I actually wonder if the temp off the blacktop can be warmer than the engine bay itself, thus the "debatable" comment in the article.

I was always thinking the exact same thing. That's why I want colder air coming up through the fog cutout. I'll probably have time tomorrow to check it out. If there's enough space, I'll try to get it done by next week sometime, hopefully. *crossing fingers*

You should definitely do it for the performance................than sell me your factory foglights. <g>

I had a non-cold air intake on my old, '93 Nissan NX2000 (we called them POP chargers). That vehicle actually lost HP with this intake under certain conditions but it looked and sounded cool.

We could. move the battery to the trunk and some elec. "stuff" to make room but I dunno....my old Z's K&N typhoon had a scoop that sat in the lower grill...but again the intake was more towards the front (this was a '03 before the dual intakes) anyway the stock airbox does draw from in front and above the radiator, so we could have a LWAI (Luke Warm Air Intake

And I need my fogs so that's outta the question

Battery to the trunk isnt a bad idea... Or running something thru to the under-part of the grill... btwn the fogs...

Well then get on it LBC, no but seriously I can see a few homemade mods for a cai coming, unfortunately It's winter in most of the states and wrenching on our cars kinda takes a back burner to showing up for work alive...lol...I have some ideas but then again I'd like to see what K&N puts out, this has been a hot selling car so I expect they will be working on something...BTW the "cold air scoop" on my old Z was a Beotch to put in and typically you can do a CAI in less than an hour.

Im an Idea guy... I dont try to "figure it out" as im doing things.... Conceptually, i can manufacture something in my head that would work... but then id need to find someone with some more tools other than my screwdriver to actually put the plan to work... lol...
