I'll be honest, can't say much one way or the other on the Genesis. I've heard good things about it on the internet, but don't know anyone personally that has one or has driven one.
G35 though, from personal experience, awesome car. Bought mine at 123,000 miles and just got to ~133,500. Nothing but normal maintenance. It's a tad on the side of unrefined (referring to the manual transmission and general powertrain), but I actually really enjoy this characteristic of the car. It feels agressive and powerful. The '06 has a slightly different interior iirc, but mine looks pretty good and it does it's job. Fairly agile handling. I could go on, but I need to drive to work. Best part of my commute is getting to drive my G35! I consider owning this car one of the better choices I've made in life (not like I make a ton of terrible choices - the G35 is just that good in relative terms
).

An '06 G35 is dated and will require upfront maintenance. Despite the "cheap" and "generic" build quality of Hyundai. You're better off getting a '12 than an '06 sport coupe. If you were comparing a '12 G37 I would suggest the Infiniti
