Hey i am new here, not sure if this has been answered yet.

I got a 07 G35x with Nav.Now it only comes with XM when Nav is installed. but i want to have Sirius instead.

Is there a way convert the XM antenna to Sirius so a new antenna doesnt have to be installed. And use the existing aux port for an aftermarket Sirius radio?

or

some how convert the XM into Sirius so i can use the controls on the screen for Sirius?

What are my options if any? And FM modulator is not one please

If anyone could help would be great, i am doing lots of research and cant find anything so far.

I think I would start by calling Joe to see if there is a different p/n for the antenna for XM vs. Sirius.

FCC chairman said it wouldn't be likely/possible since their licenses forbid the merger, and if it DID happen it would be towards end of 07/ Q1 08.

Im not very familiar with the g35, i do work on m35 and 45 daily at my work. The tuners for these cars are in the upper rear passenger side of the trunk. (under the black trunk liner) You should be able to swap tuners. nissan makes them for these cars, and i have quite a few at work with subscriptions. let me know if you find you tuner box. I install for a company caled navigation solutions which is owned by Thales/Magellan. We get oem tuners for sirius and install them in rental vehicles for hertz.

so you are saying by simply switching the tuner in the trunk from XM to Serius, that will give you full functionality of the Sirius with the preinstalled antenna and ill be able to use the navigation controls for sirius?

For some reason seems too easy no?

thanks

With the m35, m45, and fx35 that we have at work, yes it will. Like I said, I have not delt with the g35 other than integrating out navigation with it, but ill be back at work thursday and i will take the trunk apart on one and ill see if i can find the tuner in there. If one of the nissan tuners we use on the m35 works ill send u the model number/part number as well as the location of the tuner in your car.

also i forgot one thing, you most likely will need to use a different anteanna but dont hold me to that. I integrate sirius in alot of the new hummers which come with xm. I cant use the xm factory ant. The infinity should be plug and play. The setup(menus, and navigation) in the g35 is near exact if not exact compared to a murano, m35,45, fx....ect.

Sorry about that, I totally forgot about this. Ill check tomorrow, there should be some g35s on the lot. Did you by chance find where the tuner was located in your car? Anyway, I will look tomorrow and let you know after work.

Ok, there were ni G35 with nav on the lot. This is what i do have. Sorry for the cell phone pics. The unit is made by visteon part number VP6ASF-18C961-BF this is what it looks like. Try cross refrencing this to your g35. I hope this helps. Ill keep you posted as soon as i see a g35. We had a 06 with no nav.

Hey Afliction523,

thanks alot for the info, so basicly let me see if i got this right. By replacing the xm tuner with a sirius tuner I should be able to use the current antenna and have capabilities to operate sirius through the navi screen?

Well for a few reasons

1) The merger won’t happen for at least a year2) There is a good chance that the merger will be rejected all together due to the fact that a monopoly is illegal in this country.

I prefer Sirius on the simple fact that programming is much better than xm.

Hey Legend,

I just purchased a new g35x and I am waiting for it to come into the dealership. I am getting the nav package but I was dissapointed when they told me that I can't get sirius with nav because of the link with XM relating to traffic updates. Anyway, i'm a huge sirius fan and I would like to have sirius in the dash so that I don't have an external unit. Did this work for you? Did you find anything else out?

Hey Hotride,

Yeh man, XM blows, i got my G ,3 weeks ago and love the car but this XM situation sucks. Their programming is really bad cant even compare with Serius plus no HS. Anyways, only info i have is from Afliction523, and even if the tuner is changed i am not sure if it will work seemlessly with the nav screen and i am sure an extra antenna needs to be installed for Serius which sucks. So right now i am still searching for options and trying to figure out if its just worth waiting for the merger (which i think will take forever or maybe never). Ill keep you posted. also Let me know if you find anything too.

thanks

Good points. I have XM, but I wish I had Stern...hopefully the merger goes through. I don't think it will be considered a monopoly though...we'll see.

Sounds like you might be able to answer my questions. I just bought a used 2007 M35X from the dealer with Sirius OEM installed. I prefer XM. Can I just change the tuner in the trunk? Do I have to change the antenna? Will the radio/nav automatically recognize the XM and all the channels? If it is just the tuner what part number do I need and where do you recommend I buy it? Thanks for any help.

Still not able to find anything about it. Please keep me updated if you find anything though. It might be a bit of a different situation because you can't get nav with sirius, only xm. It seems like you have no nav with sirius and you want xm which I would think would be a simple fix if you switch the tuners.

On our fx35s, and m35s, it works fine. We do use a diferent anteanna though.
