Trade in the car and start over if you feel you need to have a manual transmission. There's no way building one will make any sort of financial sense. With the money you'd spend trying to make a conversion happen you could have bought a higher-end car.

like erick.s said, it would probably be easier to trade for a 6mt altima and then start from there.

from what I last remember (2-3 months ago), a turbo for the 2.5 is in developmentstill waiting for updates on that

I did the exact same thing to my 07 2.5 Altima. I decided to remove my perfectly good working CVT transmssion, and install the Nissan manual transmission. I also decided to modify and install a turbocharger that was from the older turbo Z car.

$3000.00 dollars and 6 months later, I have accomplished two things:

1. I have taken a car worth around 18K and reduced it's value to around 10K.

2. I have learned to drive another car while my formerly good driving Altima sets in my garage, in hundreds of pieces.

Unless you have a 'Monster Garage' like Jesse James has on the Discovery Channel, or a 'Trick my Truck' garage from Country Music Television, or a garage like the show Orange County Choppers on the Discovery Channel, I would suggest that you DO NOT attempt this at home.

From your questions, I sense that you are not a Paul Tuetel Sr. or Paul Tuetel Jr.

I believe that you are more like Michael 'Mikey' Tuetel. You have a dream, but you lack the ability to see your dream in color.

Your dream is not impossible, just extremely expensive, and not worth it.

just wondering when you attempted this transmission swap, what it a 4th gen altima manual or manual from another model? (I don't know if it makes a diff., just curious)

Why the hell would you do this. It would cost LESS to trade in a CVT for a manual. Not to mention only Macgyver could pull it off

Gene-E,

You hit the nail squarely on the head with your question:

"Why the hell would you do this. It would cost LESS to trade in a CVT for a manual. Not to mention only Macgyver could pull it off."

That is the point that I was making in my sarcastic reply.

mikegtr06, your B.S. meter was flying high, as it should be after reading my 100% false reply.

I did not attempt to change from CVT to manual transmission, nor did I attempt to install a turbo.

I wrote that nonsense with the hope that some gullible-go-fast-speed- racer-wannabee would see just how injudicious this idea is.
