What are the whereabouts converting a 89 Pulsar CA18DE(T) to work on a F/R Layout. I've noticed that the Alternator is on the wrong side and that a Different Transmission must be used (Probably from a 84-86 CA18ET S12). Will motor Mounts be Different? What needs to be done to make this project a Success?

Thank You

Well, the blocks should just line up, so you will need mounts, bellhousing, transmission and driveshaft. You will also need all intake ducting as well as the intake manifold. Don't forget wiring. As far as internals, are you wanting N/A or boost? Are you using a DE or a T? If you are using a N/A motor and want to go turbo, all you really need are the pistons. The crank girlde is nice, and I bet Dee or Rafi could get one for you.

Well the thing is that it's a CA18DE Turboed I'm pretty sure it's from a Pulsar but there is a turbo on it... Some guy is selling it to me claiming it's from a Silvia but I don't believe him... anyways I just want to replace my CA20E. I already have the Transmission from a 84-86 CA18ET S12.

I'll post pics of it.

Im sorry.. Maybe it's just me but the punctuation in your posts just hurts my head. I have a 1988 Nissan Pulsar with a CA18DET in it from a Silvia. What are you looking to do? I'll help guide you

A CA18DE with stock internals and a turbo strapped onto it is a disaster waiting to happen.

All ca18det have crank girdle. All you have to do to convert to rwd is swap the throttle to the other end of the manifold and move the blanking plate to where the throttle was. Some colant lines need modifying, but its just plumbing, no major fabrication needed.

Are those pics of the motor the guy is selling? I have seen them before. A guy in australia (i think) converted his n13 pulsar to ca18det (fwd) and that was the motor he put in. I have all the pics on my comp including those. I would be a bit suspicious...

Here is the link to the photos i saw. These are old pics too, like at least a year or two.

They were taken by a guy called matt on the exaforums- http://www.nissanexa.com/forum/index.php? - lots of ca info there too.

anyway, he converted his n13exa from de to det and those pics you have are of the new motor

yes, but it was a RWD CA18DE engine. Had the crank girdle and everything the DET has... the USDM Pulsar motors are crap. Skinny rods and no crank girdle. My RWD CA18DE was internally identical to the DET except the pistons and oil squirters.
