So I finally ordered the replacement shocks from http://www.rockauto.com . They arrived today and took 5 minutes to install. These shocks work great !! SG359005 $13.01 each. With both installed the trunk release pops the trunk about 1/2" (make sure your release override is in the off position otherwise the release will not work) and when lifted holds the trunk securely.

It's so nice to get your new trunk lid shocks isn't it? I was so happy getting mine...no more getting my head smashed by the trunk . I got mine from RockAuto.com as well (about a year and a half ago) and mine would lift the trunk all the way open when I would pull up the trunk release...but after about two months it would open about halfway, then about two months after that it stopped lifting the trunk all together. But they still hold the trunk open just have to use the key..or have my wife get out of the car and lift it while I pull up the release.

Yea I would imaging that they will settle in after a while . Right now it's about freezing in my workshop and I would think that temperature plays a role as well but at that price I would just replace them again if they failed in a year or two.

Yeah...I need to order me a new set but I just keep forgetting. I think I'll get me a set in a few weeks and wait to install them this Spring...nice to have them work properly during the "top down" months.

I think I got mine from Advance Auto or AutoZone and must have gotten the last good pair because after 3+ years they still open the trunk just fine.

I'll admit when I first got them they were TOO strong and I would have to apply a lot or pressure to close the trunk. I think I even joked at the time I could launch things by pulling the lever.

But like everyone's said, they're cheap enough to have a spare set sitting around when they finally do give in.
