Convertible Top won't work

I replaced the motor on my M30, but my convertible top still is not working. It will release from the "screws" but does not go any further, and then just quits. This is the same thing that happened before the motor was replaced. Earlier, when I first got the car, the top would do down, but needed a little push to get started after it released from the screws. Any ideas? I understand there are a bunch of relays and such for the top on these....
