I have a 1992 Nissan 240SX SE convertible. The top is itself is still solid but the back window is fogged and I cannot see through it at all. Is there any product that I can use on it to fix the clarity or is my only option to have it replaced?

Fogged? Fogged from what?

Have you tried a razor blade?

It is strange to describe but it literally looks foogy. The plastic isn't dirty. I have washed it numerous times, I even tried applying cooking oil to it to cut through any dirt or residue that might have been on it. That didn't seem to help. What is strange is that whenever the plastic is wet, when it is raining, it looks clear again. Also, when I used the oil on it, it looked clear too. It seems that when the plastic is wet or conditioned it is clear, but as soon as it dries it goes back to the foggy horrible looking state. That was why I was wondering if there was any product that fixed that, that maybe permantly condition the plastic?

It is actual plastic. Not a sturdy plastic either, it is bendible and soft like the cloth top it is sewn into.

I see.

So a Razor blade probably wouldn't be a good idea .

I think it just happens to plastic over time with the sun on it. I would recommend replacement.

Haha, yeah. You are right I will just have to replace it. Luckily I read about a place in the area that I believe can replace it for a fair price. I hope they can, because to replace the entire top could be costly, but if they can just remove the window and replace that it would cut the price in half.

I also have a convertible 240sx and my back window was the same as yours, so i bought a clear plastic cleaner and polish from meguiars and it turned it really clean and clear. Just thought i let you know before you replace your entire window.

Oh awesome! I am not sure that we have the store you mentioned here, but what kind of cleaner and polish did you purchase? Perhaps if I know the brand, I can find it here in another store. Thank you so much for the help!!!

I went to pep-boys, an auto store located here, and purchased the products you mentioned and it greatly improved the back window for me. I just wanted to thank you again for the tip! It is much better driving with more clarity, and safer.
