Hey there I am a new member on here and i have a few questions that i need answered. I have been reading on here for a couple of days now and i would like to tell you guys that you all have done a great job on answering questions with the stickies and all that. But i just bought a 92 convertible white and i need to know a few things. My first question is. I read on the door panels conversion of someone putting in maxima seatbelts instead of the rear seatbelts. I sorda want to keep my seatbelts in the rear. So i have a coupe parts car and i was wondering if i could use the rear seat belts out of it? Or if not what other options do i have? My second question. I noticed that on the black vert that was feature in a magazine (i believe it was AZhitmans car or something like that) there was a cover over the top after it was down. I also noticed that my car has like pop things in the rear plastic panels. Is the top cover on that car factory and does it snap to those things? I just want something to cover the top up after i let it down. it looks tacky back there. So what options do i have here. My final question, My top will not go down by just pushing the button. i have to manually put it down. I can hear the motor running but it will not move anything but the rear windows down. Do you have any clue what this could be? i dont know alot about the convertible so im not sure The past few days i have done a bunch of research on this stuff but have not seemed to find any anwers to my questions. hopefully you can help me. Thanks so much for your time. Tony

You can use any kind of seat belt that is similar to the one shown in Greg's article. The roller has to fit in the hole under the interior quarter panel, there needs to be a loop for it to run through where it comes out of the door panel, and the end needs a hole so it can bolt to the stock seat belt location on the floor. If you find the coupe belts don't work, you can head to a junkyard and get other belts.

The boot you see on verts like the black one was a factory option. They are sometimes for sale on NICO and on Ebay. Expect to pay $150-$500 for one. Some people are playing around with creating other covers, but we haven't seen anything completed yet.

The lever on your pump might be flipped, the pump might be shot, you might have a leak somewhere in the lines/cylinders for the top, or the lines/cylinders might need to be bled. I think there are a few threads relating to these topics on here that have diagrams and stuff. Use the red search button at the top. If all else fails, you can flip the switch on your pump to the off position and just operate the top manually. Welcome!

Ish, On the ball as usual. The only of your answers I'd take issue with is re the boot. I don't tink it was a factory option (though I could be mistaken). I thought one came with every vert. Hmm? And welcome to the forum Sylviatp23. Let me be the first to say; Let's see some pics and be sure to register your car in the appropriate thread. You won't find a greater, more knowledgeable or helpful group of guys (and gals?) than here at Nico so enjoy....

Glyph, you're probably right. I thought it was optional since so many verts don't have one.

original owners just threw them away because they never used them. the guy that owned my car almost threw his away. he found it and gave it to me covered in years of dust.

yup, yup. welcome to the vert realm. i think your questions have sufficiently been answered. if you don't want to have to diagnose the top problem yourself, you could probably take it to your local nissan dealer... but in the end, i think you'll be better off on your own. shop rates are ridiculous and chances are, they won't be able to help you much.

we need pictures.

welcome aboard and enjoy your stay.

I don't mean to imply ignorance, but have you unclasped the top from the a-pillar on each side?

He said he manually put it down, so I would hope so.

One thing I forgot to mention - if you use different seat belts, you will most likely have to use the receptacles for them, too.
