Does anyone know where I can get this part, or someone who is parting out a convertible?

I need the top trim piece (plastic cover) that goes along the inside of the top of the windshield- the piece that the visors and dome light screw into. Mine is all cracked to hell and when it rains here in Florida, I might as well just keep the top down because it leaks sooooo bad all over me and the passenger LOL!!!

It's probably impossible to find this, and if I do, I'm sure the replacement piece is probably just as broken! I've put so much silicone and gasket maker and jb weld etc. and that damn thing just breaks and cracks in all new spots, it's not even worth keeping there, I should just rip it off and fiberglass one or something!

Anyone???

Post up a pic. I may have access to one.

That part shouldn't make it leak though.

the rubber seal above it is the part you should be looking for.

if you can find anyone parting out a totalled vert, or find one in a junkyard, you could probably get it.

It spans the top of the windshield header, and then down both sides of the windshield frame and is held in place by plastic clips.

I posted this in the other thread too. There are hooks on each side. Right? They are threaded, so give them a few turns and try. That'll make the top close tighter. It might fix the problem. Keep us posted.

The piece I'm talking about is highlighted in RED, and it is destroyed! Under the visor mounts it has just shattered apart and water pours out of it, it's all cracked around the dome light which also leaks. The other areas are in yellow on that "bar" like piece that outlines the plastic piece. Every yellow ring I highlighted is where I've stuffed silicone and epoxy to keep it from leaking and falling apart LOL!

Here's another issue: The yellow ring reveals a hole (missing trim piece) and all the original silicone inside is deteriorated (I just plugged it with fresh 3M caulk ) but along the top trim piece highlighted in RED there is bodyrot that is slightly visible if you wedge a screwdriver in there and pry it up just enough to see. I want to take it off so I can use body filler and repair underneath it, but I couldn't yet figure out how it comes off.

The last leaking, and one of the WORST ones, is these parts where the little strips of weatherstripping are. The weather stripping doesn't even make it to both ends, which leads me to believe that maybe they were generic aftermarket cuts that don't fit well? Because you can just simply slide them back and forth, so I don't think they are the right ones. Either way, inbetween them is like a faucet in a rainstorm .

Honestly, I love this car and just how rare it is keeps me loving it more. I've had offers on two occasions thrown to me from another car at a red light But this car PISSES ME OFF!!! Everything else that was wrong I was able to fix or am getting to it. But this leak thing is killing me because I'm in Florida, so when it rains, IT RAAAAAAAIIIIINNNNNSSSSS!!!But this car had only 86,000 miles when I bought it over 2years ago, and now only has 101,000. It's a great car and I love it. So I'm not giving up at everything that's breaking on it regardless of how impossible the parts are to get

tenkawa... I'll check the FSM supplement to see if I can see what you're talking about.

I have a friend here that works at a Nissan dealership, and he showed me this stuff on their parts computer and said at his EMPLOYEE COST, it would be nearly $700 for the parts! FFFFFFFF that!

if its $700 for parts and that is the only thing you can get then you should just go for it.

Whoa, whoa, WHOA!

Ok, let me calm down here...

First, you're probably contributing to the corrosion by TRAPPING water in the windshield header... The places you're plugging are NOT responsible for keeping water out.

Go to the outside of the car.... Drop the top. You need to replace the trim along the windshield header that the top closes against. No need for OEM stuff, since you can't find it anyway. Go to an autobody supply shop and get something similar, they sell it in rolls.

As for the side pieces, take one off and take it to the same store, and ask for something similar. They may have to order it, but then you can cut it to fit.

Can you show us in a pic of that spot?? I'm not quite sure I'm understand what you are saying. My car is leaking in the same spot, and my top trim piece also leaks like that. I would like to know what to replace also!

I'm fixing the same issues with my 94 vert and I feel your pain. Those two interior trim pieces are worth their weight in gold at the Nissan dealer, so I would just keep patching yours. You are missing two corner trim pieces that fill in the gap on that piece of trim that across the top of the windshield. In order to remove that piece of trim, don't do what I did and try to pry it up. Ended up ruining the piece of trim ($165 thru a friend at the local Nissan dealer) and found out that the clips have threaded studs with 7mm nuts that have to be removed from the inside after you remove those two trim panels. Also the retaining clips are NLA, so be carefull. After you remove the trim piece, you will most likely find that it is all rotted underneath and that is where your water leak is coming from. Also, your top in one of your side shots looks like it is bowed upwards between the driver window and the rear quarter window. If you look at that hinge with the front piece pointing straight up you will see a star screw facing forward. Try turning this screw counterclockwise a turn or two and when you put the front piece down it should contact the screw head and give you a straighter line from front to back where the top glass weatherstrip sits. You can also try adjusting the door glass so that it goes up tightly against the weatherstrip. Those weatherstrip pieces above the door and quarter glass do tend to move slightly in there tracks and they are also getting old and are not as soft as they use to be, so you may have to play aroung with the glass adjustments to get a tight fit. I live in Orlando and I'm trying to fix the same issues, I'll try to post some pics showing what I found when I removed the trim and weatherstrip (Swiss cheese anyone?).
