Hello! Bought a 2008 Rogue SL about 5 weeks ago, to replace my daughter's '06 Subaru Outback that was totaled. Replaced many parts, and it's running well. The night before it was to be inspected, I got an H11 bulb, then found that mine has HID headlights: almost sh*t myself when I found that a D2R bulb would be $100! Hoping to convert to halogen. Maybe I managed to do something wrong, but a search for "HID" got no results. Also, is there no 1ST GEN NISSAN ROGUE MEMBERS = POST YOUR INTRO page? Looking forward to solving problems with the help of this forum!

Welcome! There's a complete factory manual for your Rogue here, you'll find the headlight systems here in the EXL section:

The HID's on the gen1 Rogue were "dumb" units using +/- connections just like a halogen. The low beam connectors differ, but replacing them with halogen connectors from the JY is all you should need for conversion. The xenons also had an aiming system with a 4-position height switch, but there's no smartwork in the setup and you won't get codes by eliminating it.

You do have one other option, which is to replace the xenon bulbs with LED conversion bulbs. The only one of my three favorite manufactures that makes them is VLED, GTR Lighting and Diode Dynamics don't make D2 conversions. There are a lot of cheap kits out there from Lasfit and others, but with LED's the heat-sinking is crucial and cheap stuff rarely lasts. The VLED set is $200, but my customers' experiences and that of others here in the forum using VLED has been excellent. You'll probably pay that much for a decent set of headlight assemblies even on eBay, so I'd consider LED's a good option.

PS - Rogue, it might be a good idea to un-bury this by splitting it into a new post. :)

Well as no one could have guessed at the time how popular the Rogue would become, there was no point in labeling the original Post Your Intro page as for the 1st gen. Anyway...

Well you could introduce yourself in the photo gallery section for 1st generation owners. While showing a pic or two. :yesnod

This place and YouTube is the reason my Rogue has been running this long which is why I have hung around this forum for the last 13 years with my original cvt.
