Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the site, I have a 2006 M45. I've read many interesting things here and this site is very useful.

Question, can you control the windows and sunroof from your key fob? I know you can do it by removing the key and inserting it into the drivers door but can you do it by pressing any buttons on the fob? If it's possible, mine does not work can anyone share how to get it working again. If not, that sucks.. My friends Acura does it and his car is nothing compared to the M.

If you are talking about open the windows when unlock the door, then, yes, you can control it with the FOB. But the control is limited and you need to remember how to do it - they are all in the user's manual though.

If you are talking about something else, then no, you can not open / close the window or open/close/tilt the sunroof with the FOB.

Yes.

I wish they had the opposite too. Meaning if you hold down the lock button after the door locks, then the windows roll up!

I never really did understand the use for rolling down all 4 windows by holding down the unlock button for 5 or 6 seconds. A much better feature would have been for the engine to start and the air conditioner to turn on if you hold the unlock key long enough.

Excellent, this will help in the Texas heat in the coming months. Mine only rolls down halfway, is that correct?

thanks guys, it wasn't working because the auto up was not programmed, now fixed thanks to some research on Nico Forums...Now all 4 are working but it sucks that you cannot get them to go up as well.

You can but it is a bit of a pain. Remove the metal key from the fob and insert it in the keyhole of driver door. If you turn the key clockwise once it opens the locks, turn it a second time and hold it....the windows will open.

If you do the same thing but turn counterclockwise, the doors will lock and the windows will all go up.

yep, its there. I think there is one on the trunk above the license plate also.

I'm still getting used to not having a key. I have had my M for about 2 months now and i stll forget that i dont have to use the key fob...just have to have it with me. Half the time as i walk up to my car i reach in my pocket, pull out my keys, then remember that i did not have to pull them out. Then a lot of times i end up dropping them in the cup holder.

At least the button on the door handle wont let you lock it when the key fob is in the car. I have left my keys in the cup holder a few times and tried to lock the car.

Holding the unlock button the fob or using the blade key turn the drivers door lock to the unlock position and hold it there. The windows will go down normally using the key, but sometimes the signal gets lost between the fob and the remote keyless access antenna, this requires another few seconds of holding to get them open all the way.

The only way to get them up is to use the blade key turning and holding it in the lock position until the windows rise.

There is no procedure to open or close the sunroof unless you get something like the KP technologies add on relay system. The internal wiring and logic in the BCM do not support opening the sunroof but if you are like me and try to keep the sun out of the interior the windows being open usually will suffice to vent the heat trapped in there. I use this all the time when it's warm out when walking up to a car sitting in our parking lot, it really makes getting into a hot car a little more tolerable.
