I looked under my car and my drivers side lower control arm is bent. Is it wise to go with a junkyard lca instead of a new one? I'm on a limited budget and I want to fix the wheel shimming problem, and I'm not sure if the damage is limited to the lca.

Also, are the ball joints attached to the LCA?

Anything else I should change out while I'm at it?

There is nothing wrong with getting one from a junkyard as long as it is straight I have done it.

Yes the ball joints are on the lower control arms. If they look bad or extremely worn then it would be a good idea to replace it while the LCA is out, because you can get someone to press it out and a new one in much easier than later down the road.

Also you may want to take a look at your tie rod it your control arm is bent there is a good chance it maybe too.

it would be a good idea but not necessary unless your current ones are shot

Are the ball joints normally sold seperate, and where would I find them?
