Having read the many posts of people who had to change tires early, I just wnated to say that my original Contis now have 60,000 km on them and still have 25-50% tread left.

on another matter, I'm getting winters this year and can't find used rims, so I'm looking at shelling out $75 per [OEM, dealer wants $125]. Has no one in my area totalled their Versa yet???

frankohabs: I had a hard time finding winter rims last winter. Seems everyplace was sold out, even the dealer. I ended up getting rims from Canadian tire for $89. They are not winter rims as nobody had winter rims, so I had to go with something a bit fancier. But the cost of a black steelie for winter was also $90. Figured I would spring for something nicer. Even though it will get wrecked, lol. Good luck with your find!!!! Hopefully you get some ...

Isn't it about time for a road trip? Bring 'em on up . . . that way you'll miss that ungodly winter warmth for a little cool [-40] weather.

Been there done that. In fact, I have a buddy whose brother owns a wrecking yard and he hasn't seen a Versa in 2 years!

As an alternative, you could always score some new wheels. Something conservative like this...

And use your OEM for the winter tires.

I've got the alloys and am just fine with them . . . trying to cheap it out with steelies for the winter.

It's September . . . I'm not in Winnipeg so I've got more than a month left until the snow flies [insert smilie here] . . . I'll find something.

Someone on this forum bought Sachii rims to use as winters for about $50 a peice. They can be found on ebay.

As for the stock tires, I don't see how some people on here can wear them out so fast. I have nearly 30,000 miles and they still have plenty of tread (as in NOT close to the wear bars). AND I've only rotated them once and don't check pressure too often.

Indeed, the original Continental tires look great on mine as well. Almost 30,000 miles and closing in on three years and plenty of tread left.

I replaced mine on my first Versa at 63,000 miles and they weren't looking bad. I just figured it was about time! (The Contis, though, really don't handle as well in rain as others, but I never had any problem with them in snow.)

Hi,

Last year I also needed some winter wheels for my Versa.

You can find my post about it there : http://forums.nissanversa.org/zerothread?id=340125

The dealer was charging a lot for the wheels, so I ended up buying wheels from a 2003 Sentra. The wheels looked almost as new. Paid 100$ total for the 4 wheels (found them online on classifieds).

Rats!

Wouldja believe that I bought a set of new steelies for the V yesterday as I found a set of Blizzaks for $300.
