Hey guys, I've got a 04' Max SE, auto 66k miles. This last weekend I noticed that the abs seemed to be kicking in a little premature on certain stops. Didn't think much of it because the conditions were somewhat slick. However, now I am hearing what sounds like the abs noice, minus the hard-core stopping/pumping noise, almost all of the time. It started out just doing it when I initally took off or was going slow, but this morning it did it the whole way to work. Now if I hit the breaks even remotely hard the full abs system kicks in way before it should be. Finally today the abs and brake lights came on in the dash, but then turned back off right before I got home. I'm thinking this would have to be a sensor of some kind...? Anyone familiar with this issue and/or what it took to fix it? Thanks in advance

Anyone?? It's basically doing it all the time now except for when it throws a code and the "abs" and "brake" lights come on in the dash. This stops the noise, I'm assuming because it disables the abs system, but doesn't last long before the lights turn off and the noise comes back. I'm guessing the only thing I can do is take it in to be diagnosed but I'd love to be able to take care or the problem on my own if possible.

The '04 Maxima's are known to have bad ABS control units. Take it in and have it checked out. I'd put money on a bad control unit.
