Continuity should exist? did search

im trying to test my tps and the fsm says check continuity between terminal A and engine ground....then it says continuity should exist?? sorry im no mechanic and i dont know what this means....does the continuity have to do with volts???? do i use a volt meter to do this??? thanks

Continuity has to do with resistance. It's just asking you to verify that the circuit is grounded, and that it's not open. Measure resistance with the circuit isolated, and no power connected, or you could damage your meter.

thanks for the reply......i just measured the continuity......now when i was reading for continuity my initially reading was high...then it dropped quickly down to 0 ohms.......does this means the circuit is good??? if it was bad what would the reading say???? would it stay at the high value???

also do u know anything about a tps......i measured the resistance with throttle released and got 1.16 kiloohms and fully depresed i got 8.5 kohms....these are accurate because i tested it a few times......the fsm says it should be approximately 2kohms when realeased and 10kohms when depressed fully...is my tps bad???? did anyone else test the resistance of their tps???
