Greetings to all. I am new to this forum, but have had my Maxima GLE since December 1997 and it had 3 miles on the odometer. It now has 153k and it has been a great car overall. However, we are having a problem with the air conditioner and I have been told by the mechanics that they can do nothing more for the system.

We live in Florida, where we use the ac 12 months out of the year. About 3 years ago, the evaporator died and we had all the hoses replaced, as well as the condensor. Two weeks ago the compressor died, apparently spewing metal everywhere. I took it in and they replaced the compressor, flushed out the system and replaced the electric fan...to the tune of $1600 and several days without a car.

Now there is a noise like a sigh/rushing air and occasionally a gurgle that occurs between 74 and 78 (naturally, the range I like it at). It occurs from every 6 seconds to every 45 seconds and lasts for 3 seconds to 35 seconds. I've taken it back four times and they tell me "Auto climate control is using bled door and is regulating temp by switching. Making noise and there is no way to fix. It's just air rushing by door." I responded by telling them that for the last 9+ years it's never made this noise, so why should it start now?" They won't do anything else and I am frustrated with the situation. Otherwise, the ac will freeze your buns off, so is cooling well.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do next? I've checked out the manual and other online forums, but can't seem to find anyone else who is having this particular issue.

Thank you.

Take it to another Nissan place for their "opinion" only. If they say "Yeah, thats the "blank blank"" then take it back and tell the other idiots how to fix it at no cost.

Unfortunately, the dealer wants $75 just to look at the problem. I've left a message with the service center to see if I can just talk to the air conditioning tech and get that person's opinion. Is there any way to get around the bench fee?
